Middle Passage Memorial Service

NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks is honoring America’s Journey for Justice participant Middle Passage. He was a 68 year old veteran and justice seeker and had joined the Journey from its start in Selma, Alabama. Middle Passage marched over 900 miles on his way to Washington, DC in support of voting rights, police reforms, and educational and employment opportunities for all Americans. At every opportunity, Middle noted the importance of both addressing racial profiling and reaching out to our brothers and sisters in blue. Middle had told a newspaper reporter that he was marching, “….to ensure the U.S. Constitution – and the prospect of the American dream – remained protected.” President Brooks will be attending and delivering remarks at the Memorial Service.
