Statement of the NAACP Milwaukee Branch
On the Passing of Velvalea “Vel” Phillips

“The ultimate measure of a woman is not where she stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where she stands at times of challenge and controversy”. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

The NAACP Milwaukee branch morns the passing of Velvalea “Vel” Phillips, a civil rights icon, who has continuously stood in the gap of justice to speak against the injustices of racism and inequality that have plagued our community for many years..
Our condolences go out to the family.

Respectfully
Fred Royal Jr.
