Free hands-on training for young drivers available in May at Miller Park

The Milwaukee Youth Council invites local young people to register for one of four free hands-on driving skills courses on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 at Miller Park. The half-day courses are intended for newly-licensed drivers or permit holders to practice driving skills in a safe, controlled environment with professional instructors.

The Ford Driving Skills for Life hands-on clinics help new drivers improve their skills in four key areas that are critical factors in more than 60 percent of vehicle crashes, including hazard recognition, vehicle handling, speed and space management. There also is a comprehensive section on distracted and impaired driving. Vehicles will be provided for use during the training, and parents and guardians are urged to attend as well.

Visit drivingskillsforlife.com/events-cat/events/state/wi to register. Spaces are limited.

Earlier this month, the Milwaukee Youth Council launched its #NoFreeRides campaign to encourage teen drivers to only drive responsibly, safely and legally.
