ST. LOUIS, Mo.
St. Louis has been making a name for itself as a technology hub. Community leaders are now making sure minorities don’t miss out on opportunities from it.

Launch Code is offering a summer of free coding classes. The organization is partnering up with the NAACP to target young, African American men and close the unemployment gap.

“It creates opportunities for people to change their lives in very meaningful way,” said Adolphus Pruitt, President of St. Louis City NAACP. “The problem with opportunity is getting the word out and making sure those folks who could really use the opportunity is a struggle and it doesn’t happen.”

Classes start June 13 and last for 20 weeks. They will be offered in St. Charles, Central West End and at Washington University.
