Letter from President Fred Royal,
Dear Friend, City Resident & or Decision Maker:
You and we have an opportunity to make a positive difference towards increasing permanent job opportunities for underrepresented groups that historically have not had much access to skilled trade jobs in the community.
The Public Policy Forum, a local think tank has recently published a study with recommendations regarding the City of Milwaukee Resident Preference Program (RPP) advocating the upgrading of skills and expanding apprenticeship opportunities. If the recommendations are enacted, the City would target residents; minorities, women and residents from disadvantaged Zip Codes who could upgrade their skills leading to family supporting jobs.
The study confirms that NOW is the time to seize the opportunity for maximum local participation on many construction projects going up now and into the future. Your support is GREATLY needed at a City sponsored meeting to speak or submit in writing your support / thoughts for these recommendations per the RPP.
PLEASE ATTEND this meeting Thursday May 26, at 10:00 AM, 2338 N. 27th Street, Employ Milwaukee, Workforce Reorganization to make your support known. A follow-up meeting will be held at the NAACP 2745 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., Wednesday June 1 st, 5:30 PM to discuss next steps. For more info see the Public Policy Forum RPP Study especially the recommendations. Please share, THANKS
